Ah, the scenery The Scottish granny and wee cups of tea lovely, charming and colourful story filled with whimsical characters and as feel good as hugs and kisses Great
Wildflower Bay is a sweet and charming read It left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, I could not ask for a better summer read The book is beautifully written, a perfect mix of romance and humour I loved the wonderful cast of characters in that story I think the way Rachael Lucas wrote her characters is one of the biggest strengths of that book They all come alive on the pages, each with their individual traits and quirks I loved Isla She goes from being someone who built high walls and hide [...]
Wildflower Bay is about Isla, who works as a head stylist in a posh salon in Edinburgh After a rather horrible time in school she focuses on nothing but her work, wanting to become something before the age of 30 One day though she gets sacked from her job and finds she doesn t have any other choice than heading off to Auchenmoor, an island in Scotland, to help out in her aunt s salon At first she is less than happy about her new life, but soon the island and its people, especially one handsome i [...]
When we first meet Isla Brown she seems a rather cold character with few friends she prefers a solitary lifestyle Brought up by her widowed father, she has personal issues stemming from her unhappy schooldays and feels she has to prove herself to everyone Working at an exclusive hair salon in Edinburgh, she loves her job and has just bought her dream car However when she unexpectedly finds herself at a loose end, her father volunteers her to take over at her aunt Jessie s salon for 2 months whil [...]
Originally posted on This Chick Reads Copy provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review Wildflower Bay is the latest novel by Rachael Lucas and was originally published as a three part serialisation I ll be honest, I m not the biggest fan of serialisations or short stories, however many authors are doing it these days Cathy Bramley and Harriet Evans just a few of them I ve read From the moment I read the blurb I knew I m going to enjoy this story, it promised a lot of fun and even some [...]
Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review I recently reviewed part 1 of this book and was really happy when I received the whole book by the publisher Here is my review of part 1 Wildflower Bay 1 ReviewThe story follows Isla, how is a top hair stylist with a very sad past However, when the book starts it goes all upside down for her Not having that many options, she decides to help her aunt She faces a new environment, is in a totally different part of the country, has to d [...]
3.5 stars Wildflower Bay started with a good pace, nice characters basically a plain, lovely book, nothing too special Except for the fact that Isla was a top hair stylist instead of someone who sells cupcakes or books This made it a little special at first It s sometimes told from the perspective of other characters like Prince Charming or some old lady This was even a little mysterious in the beginning, in a good way The guy s point of view remained satisfying, but the old lady one s became a [...]
Originally posted on albainbookland 2016 08In her latest book, Rachael Lucas takes us back to the island of Auchenmor If you read her debut, Sealed with a Kiss, you ll remember this little island and one of the characters, Finn I did, so I was really excited to be back as I had really good memories of this place If you didn t, then you are in for a treat discovering this stunning island with lots of secrets and a charming little community But the story starts in Edinburgh with Isla She had quite [...]
Isla has been so focussed on her career that the rest of her life has left her behind Suddenly finding herself with nothing to do after a disaster at work she is dragged into helping her aunt in her hair salon on Auchenmor Reluctantly roped in, and counting the days until she can leave Isla finds that the island and its inhabitants have started to work their magic on her, with possibly one resident having effect than others I was soon absorbed in Isla s tale and found myself nearly half way thr [...]
I have been a fan of Rachael s writing for many years and this book did not fail to disappoint Wildflower bay is based in Scotland, of course I m a fan already, the story is based around Isla who has her dream job and been so focused on that, that life is passing her by until disaster strikes and she goes to help out her aunt on a remote island The she meets Finn I love how this book is told from three points of view, which take a very different look at life Finn is a great character, as is Isla [...]
really enjoyed reading part one and looking forward the other parts of this storyt read anything about hairdressers before so it was very refreshing indeed.
Started off well and I was enjoying it but once Isla went to her Aunt s shop I really don t know what happened and I sort of lost the plot Was a little disappointed in it really but know others will have enjoyed.
4.5 StarsI think I need to start by saying how good it was to return to Auchenmor, previously seen in Rachael Lucas Sealed With A Kiss Christmas sequel , the rather remote Scottish island, full of warm hearted locals and we get to catch up with old friends too That being said this is not a sequel of any sort, and although has the same setting as previous books, can easily be read as a book by itself, and what a book it is I adored this story from its first rather funny incident, to Isla s initia [...]
Having loved Rachael s previous books, i was pleased to find out the next book of hers was in serialisations, which i do enjoy This new book, Wildflower Bay is in three parts, i could not wait to get started, plus part one was free bonus. Here we meet Isla, who is a top stylist in a hair salon in Edinburgh Whille dying her boss s hair the wrong colour one day, Isla quicky works out her co worker did it on purpose to get her the sack After her boss Kat, tells Isla to take 2 months Gardening leave, [...]
I feel a bit of a cheat counting this as one of my finished books for the year This is just the first of a 3 part series In this part we meet Isla whose glittering career in a city centre hairdressers comes to an abrupt halt Now comes the chance to temporarily take over her Aunt s salon on a remote Scottish island Isla has barely started in the salon when we leave the book but already I m gripped wanting the next instalment to be released very quickly Nice, easy reading with some escapism that w [...]
Was looking forward to reading this and didn t disappoint me Isla works at a hair salon in Scotland and she looses her job and is unsure what to do she rings her dad and she goes to his While at his her auntie rings and she lives on a remote Scottish island and runs a hairdressers but has broken her arm so the dad suggests Isla goes and helps out She makes her way to the island and realises how remote it is and that the hairdresser is set in its ways can she work with them Well written and looki [...]
Rachael Lucas takes us back to Auchenmor, with a chance catch up with old friends while making new ones Sealed With a Kiss felt like a winter read Wildflower Bay is definitely a summer read All I need now is to know when we ll be heading to the island next
Originally reviewed at Novel EscapesWildflower bay is the first novel I ve read by Rachael Lucas and I loved it It s exactly the feel I needed from a story when I was reading it and I appreciated the ease with which I was immediately immersed The nature of the island lifestyle and the inhabitants was felt across the pages and made me utterly content When I was little we used to visit my great aunt on an island off of Scotland and I pictured it as the same sort of place The people were friendly a [...]
Loved everything about this book, it was a touching story about a women struggling with past conflicts and having the determination to prove she was worth something, in the end she realised she didn t need to prove anything so she could finally relax and enjoy life This story speaks to me in that I had trouble at school, I was the outsider, I was picked on and taken advantage and never thought would amount to anything, well I am, I deserve the best, I can do anything, and even though this story [...]
Isla has her dream job as head stylist in Edinburgh and is can t wait for her school reunion to show then all what she has achieved 35 year old Finn is feeling a little odd after he finds out his close friends are starting a family.Set on the small island of Auchenmor this is a lovely story of 2 people working out what they want in life Just the perfect story to read when you want to be whisked away from lives problems Loved it.
It s not something I usually go for, but enjoying the very light read and it was free on , so I gave it ago I like it s set in Scotland and makes me want to revisit this place again very soon I m going to read the 2nd book and see what happens to the two main characters, on this little island and I have a funny feeling it s all going to be the usual happy ending of these type of books.
HarmlessEasy to read, nothing dramatic happening Didn t like Isla at all at least in the beginning She got better in the end.Chose the book as something for in between the substantial books.
I am actually not so sure about this book, I am normally all in for these books however I kind of found Isla annoying at the same time as feeling sorry for her I have to admit, I kind of hated Chantelle, I am not sure who fault is was for the colour mix up when Isla does Kat s hair but I do know in reality would a stylist honestly be sacked for this I really did love when she sends those drunken texts to her though, I really did feel like giving her a punch I felt really bad for Isla, she loses [...]
A feel good story that s easy to get attached to Loved the scenery I hated that I didn t find out what happened to everyone in the end, but have since found out there are sequels I ll be hunting them down soon
A good easy read with some unexpected events
I knew this was just Part 1, but it could have had an ending, rather than just stop mid chapter As this was disappointing, I don t know whether I actually enjoyed it or not the main character seemed okay, but nothing had really happened Would consider if I saw the full copy.
This is a lovely feel good book which made me feel all fuzzy It was perfect reading for a bleak day
GreatGreat intro to the characters and a nice easy flow Will have to get the other books to see what happens xxx
